Girls, it probably won’t come as much of a shock but lack of sleep really can have an impact on our sexual desire, and I should say that is directed at us girls not so much the boys. If we stop and think about it, it really all makes sense, ensuring we get our sleep plays a big part in whether we are up for romping in the sheets, but did you realise that just increasing your sleep by an extra hour a night will have the likely impact of increasing your sex drive by 14%. I couldn’t help think that was a fairly substantial increase, but going with less sleep really does hamper us in more ways than one. So if you want to increase your sex drive read on….
The study, undertaken by the Journal of Sexual Medicine conducted the recent findings. “The influence of sleep on sexual desire and arousal has received little attention in the field”, commented Dr. David Kalmbach, lead author and resident at the University of Michigan Medical School, “but these findings indicate that insufficient sleep can decrease sexual desire and arousal for women.” In total 171 women were recruited for the survey and their sleeping habits were tracked over a period of 14 days. Researchers involved then assessed how much sleep each participant received on any given night and recorded the level of sexual desire they felt the next day. They were also questioned further as to whether they resorted to masturbation if they found that their partner was showing low sexual interest. The results clearly showed that for every additional hour they received in quality sleep, they were able to increase the likelihood of having sex by 14% as well as an easier time enjoying themselves and easier sexual arousal than those women who slept less.
So take note girls and get to bed!
